"The Sacrament of Apostolic Ministry by which the mission entrusted by Christ to his Apostles continues to be exercised in the Church through the laying on of hands. This sacrament has three distinct degrees or 'orders': deacon, priest, and bishop. All three confer a permanent, sacramental character."
- Catechism of the Catholic Church
By their consecration, bishops, and priests act in the Person of Christ, representing Him as the Head of the Church. Deacons are ordained unto the ministry of service but not to the priesthood. Deacons assist bishops and priests in celebrating the sacred mysteries; they can baptize, witness marriage, and preside over funerals and other liturgical events.
Just as Jesus called and set apart the apostles to lead and minister to God's people, God continues to call men to serve his people in the ordained priesthood of Christ and the diaconate.
If you feel a true calling to the spiritual life of priesthood or the diaconate, please get in touch with a priest or our parish administrator to discuss.
