“The Glory of God is his littleness.” - Jean Vanier
51 years ago, Jean Vanier launched what would become a worldwide revolution in building communities of love around people with intellectual disabilities. In the last half century, L’Arche has learned much about vulnerability. In this talk, we’ll look at three stories from the Gospel of John and encounter the vulnerability of Jesus. Through the story of L’Arche, a story of befriending vulnerable people, we’ll discover the reality of vulnerability in the human condition and its essential place in forming relationships of love.
Our speaker, Tim Moore serves as the executive director and community leader of L’Arche Atlanta. In addition to Atlanta, Tim has served in L’Arche communities in New Zealand and Washington DC. He has a Master of Divinity degree from Candler School of Theology at Emory University and a Bachelors degree in Religion and Media from Hastings College in Hastings, NE.
L’Arche is an international federation of people with and without intellectual disabilities sharing lives in community where mutual relationships and trust in God are the primary values.
Tim will be speaking at IHM on Wednesday, August 26, at 7:00 p.m. in the Lower Level. This presentation is co-sponsored by the Women’s Club, Social Justice Committee, and Young Married Couples.
