Councils of the Parish

IHM encourages participation, communication, and collaboration in all works of the parish.

IHM has consultative bodies of lay parishioners who advise and assist the pastor and/or his designate. These are:

The Pastoral Council: The Code of Cannon Law suggests that each parish have a Pastoral Council, as a visioning body. The Pastoral Council serves as advisors to the Pastor, which includes helping with current and future planning for the parish.

The Parish Pastoral Council is the consultative body that advises the pastor in planning and sustaining the pastoral life of the parish. Councilors serve 3-year terms and meet several times a year.

The Finance Council: The Code of Canon Law requires that each parish have a Finance Council. This Council provides guidance to the Pastor in managing the temporal goods of the community.

Legacy Committee: The Legacy Committee is a gathering of parish members who have remembered IHM Church, School or other Catholic ministries in their wills.  We meet with individuals and groups to share our stories and let others know the good outcomes that are available to us by making provisions for families, friends and our financial blessings through wills and other directives.  We know that all adults, regardless of age, benefit from being aware of the opportunities for making these plans.  Moreover, there is a place for everyone at the table of legacy donors.  Join us in our important work.  We welcome you.

Stewardship Commission: The Stewardship Commission is a consultative ministry that works with the Pastor to formulate strategies to assist in the development of members of the parish as Disciples of Jesus Christ. In addition, the Stewardship Commission supports the work of the Living Your Strengths Ministry and Legacy Committee.

The School Advisory Council: Under Canon Law, the Pastor is the employer and administrator of the parish school. The School Advisory Council provides guidance to the Pastor and the Principal on important school matters.
