At IHM, we enjoy working with young people and we want to enable them to live as disciples through their involvement in ministry and leadership. At the heart of our youth ministry is the presence of caring and supportive relationships where youth experience the love of God. Our programs, EDGE (6th-8th graders) and Life Teen (9th-12th graders), are designed to lead teens closer to Christ.
Both EDGE and Life Teen meet on Sunday evenings at 6:00 p.m., immediately following the 5:00 p.m. Life Teen Mass. This year while there are still concerns about the virus, we will be offering the option to meet in person in smaller groups, wearing masks, using social distance to promote safety (usually around 10 per group) or if the parents and teens feel more comfortable there will be an online option as well.In order to provide for smaller groups, in larger spaces, we are also offering the Life Teen group at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, and 7:00 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday.Teens are encouraged to serve and attend the 5:00 p.m. Mass. Ministry positions needed for the Life Teen Mass are: Altar Servers, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Lectors, Ministers of Hospitality and musicians and singers for the Life Teen Band.
We are also seeking adults (18 years and older) to become part of our Core team to join us in this exciting journey. No experience is necessary! Training is provided to learn best practices in youth ministry from leading a small group to chaperoning retreats. Please prayerfully consider becoming an active member of our Youth Ministry!
EDGE: a program designed for 6th-8th graders to teach them how they were created to be in Christ and helps them understand their mission. This group meets on Sunday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in gym and back playground/field areas. Often this year the group will be split into smaller groups, often by grade, to create small groups of no more than 12 teens per group so that our leaders can know our teens well. We will be using social distancing practices as well as requiring masks for the safety of all involved while the virus is still a threat.Life Teen: a program designed for 9th-12th graders. Its mission is to lead teenagers and their families closer to Christ. Life Teen will strengthen our teens' Catholic identity, while rooting them firmly in Christ and in His Church. This group meets on Sunday afternoons from 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. and in the evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the IHM School Cafeteria. There will an on-line option as well for those who need that option. We will be using social distancing practices as well as requiring masks for the safety of all involved while the virus is still a threat.
Decision Point : is a Confirmation program we will use for the immediate preparation of those teens seeking confirmation. It will last 10 weeks - 9 weeks of interactive small group, concluding with a special weekend retreat right before confirmation. This program will also be run in small groups so our leaders can know our teens well, using social distancing, and masks to protect all involved as long as the virus is a threat .
The goals of this program are:- to prepare young Catholics for Confirmation
- presenting the genius of Catholicism
- demonstrate the relevance of Catholicism
- help them develop a personal relationship with Jesus
- engage them in a dynamic conversation about our faith

EDGE Summer Camp
Edge Summer Camp is open to all rising 6th graders through graduated 8th graders (next summer). So if you are currently in 5th-8th grade, you can come to Edge summer camp next summer! This camp is awesome—there’s great food, fun camp things like obstacle courses, high and low ropes courses, lake fun (blob, paddle boarding, canoeing, zipline, etc), messy games, arts & crafts, etc. all combined with incredible experiences of your faith in mass, adoration and reconciliation. Where else can you get Jesus and a mud pit in one place?!

Service Hour Opportunities
CHWC 25 Teens - Catholic Heart Work Camp is a wonderful week long camp that focuses on being the hands and feet of Jesus within a community that has need. Teen campers will go to serve- sometimes painting houses, working at shelters, food banks, children camps, or schools. All these opportunities are more rewarding that we can express! The teens that go on this camp come home on fire with the joy of serving others, their deepened love of God, and amazing new friendships formed with those peers in their church. $550 is the price of this camp. Please never let the price scare you, we do fundraisers! Sign up early, and you’ll find it will all work out! We will most likely be going in early to mid- June. The exact date of the camp for 2021 to be announced in in early 2021!!

Servers for the Life Teen Mass
All teens are invited to become Liturgical Ministers at the Sunday 5 p.m. Life Teen Mass.
There are various positions available in which you can serve:
- Altar Servers
- Ministers of Hospitality
- Life Teen Band (musicians and vocalist)
- Lectors
- Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMoHC)
